Two weeks in Orlando: 17 coaster credits across Disney and Universal

A first-hand trip report from May 2026: a week at Walt Disney World and six days at Universal including Epic Universe, the coasters I rode park by park, my top three, and what I would tell anyone planning the same trip.

In May 2026 I spent two weeks in Orlando: a week at Walt Disney World, then six days on the Universal side, including Epic Universe, with a day out at Kennedy Space Center in there too. It came to 17 coaster credits. Here is what I rode, my top three, and what I'd tell anyone planning the same trip.

The trip at a glance

  • When: May 2026, two weeks.
  • Disney (one week): Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.
  • Universal (six days): Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe.
  • Credits: 17: seven at Disney, ten at Universal.
  • Paid queue skipping: Lightning Lane at Animal Kingdom only.

My top three

  1. VelociCoaster, Islands of Adventure. Intamin, opened 2021. It's also the ride I've set as my favourite on CoasterTrak.
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, EPCOT. Vekoma, opened 2022.
  3. Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Islands of Adventure. Intamin, opened 2019.

Two of the three are at Islands of Adventure, so if you only have time for one Universal park, that is the one I'd pick for coasters.

The Disney week

Magic Kingdom: 4 credits

Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tron Lightcycle Run. The Barnstormer is the one Magic Kingdom credit I didn't get.

EPCOT: 1 credit

Cosmic Rewind, and it made my top three.

Hollywood Studios: 1 credit

Slinky Dog Dash. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was closed when I went: Disney shut the Aerosmith version on 2 March 2026 for its Muppets retheme and set the reopening for 26 May, after my visit. It should be running now, but check before you plan a day around it.

I spent May the Fourth in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. It isn't a coaster, but it's my biggest tip for the whole trip: don't miss it.

Animal Kingdom: 1 credit

Expedition Everest. We only had one day at Animal Kingdom, so it was the one park where we paid for Lightning Lane.

Six days at Universal

Universal Studios Florida: 2 credits

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and Revenge of the Mummy. I skipped Trolls Trollercoaster. It's the old Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster rethemed on the same track, so if you rode Woody years ago, it's the same credit.

Islands of Adventure: 4 credits

VelociCoaster, Hagrid's, The Incredible Hulk and Flight of the Hippogriff. I didn't ride Pteranodon Flyers; whether it even counts as a credit is a debate of its own.

Epic Universe: 4 credits

Stardust Racers, Mine-Cart Madness, Curse of the Werewolf and Hiccup's Wing Gliders. Epic Universe is the park I've set as my favourite on CoasterTrak. I rode Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge too, but it's a dark ride rather than a coaster, so it isn't in my count.

If you want every credit

The ones I left behind, for anyone more thorough than me:

  • The Barnstormer (Magic Kingdom)
  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets (Hollywood Studios), not by choice: it was shut when I went
  • Trolls Trollercoaster (Universal Studios Florida)
  • Pteranodon Flyers (Islands of Adventure), if you count it

What I'd tell a friend going next

  • Don't miss Galaxy's Edge.
  • Check closures before you fix your park days. A headline coaster can be shut for a retheme, as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was for me.
  • If a park only gets one day, that's where paid queue skipping earns its keep; it's the only place we used it.
