CoasterGuessr: guess the coaster from a photo
6 min read · Updated 6 October 2026
How CoasterGuessr works, tips for reading ride photos, and how the game connects to logging real credits on CoasterTrak.
What CoasterGuessr is
CoasterGuessr is CoasterTrak’s free photo guessing game. You see a coaster image and try to identify the ride or park context — a lightweight way to train pattern recognition between real park visits.
It is not a replacement for logging credits. It is a practice loop: notice manufacturer signatures, support styles, station architecture, and landscape clues, then take that eye into the park.
How to get better at reading photos
- Look at supports and track colour before the train — clones often share hardware DNA.
- Station roofs, thematic props, and background terrain beat logo crops.
- Defunct rides still appear in photo sets; catalog status on CoasterTrak helps later.
- When you guess wrong, open the real coaster or park page and skim the lineup facts.
Connecting guesses to your credit log
Saw a ride you have actually been on? Log it if it is missing. Saw a leftover at a park you are visiting soon? Wishlist it and plan with park leftovers. The game feeds curiosity; the tracker stores truth.
Play fair with yourself
Use guesses as learning, not as a substitute for riding. A correct CoasterGuessr answer is not a credit. Credits still require the seatbelt click — see what is a coaster credit.
Try it
